Is Ulun Ubud Resort Bail Worth It? Real Jungle pool villa Views & Room Tips

[Bail Ubud Travel] Why Ulun Ubud Resort is the Ultimate Jungle Hidden Gem
Private pool.

If you’re currently planning a Bali getaway and scrolling through endless, overpriced Ubud pool villas, you can stop right here. I’ve just got back from Ulun Ubud Resort, and honestly, it’s the best-kept secret for anyone wanting that dreamy jungle

luxury without the ridiculous price tag. Perfect for a romantic honeymoon or just a proper digital detox.

Here is the lowdown on what to expect, from pricing and spa secrets to the actual reality of staying there.

A Balinese bungalow-style bed with a canopy.

The Room: Our Private Balinese Hut & Pool Setup

We booked the Pool Villa, and the layout was brilliant.

It’s a freestanding, traditional Balinese-style hut that makes you instantly feel like you’ve escaped the real world.

The best part? The bed directly faces your private plunge pool. Waking up, opening the blinds, and seeing that water right in front of you is the ultimate "holy crap, I’m actually on holiday" feeling. The bed has this gorgeous canopy mosquito net which adds such a cozy, romantic vibe.

Space-wise, they’ve nailed it. There’s a separate daybed and study nook, so you’re not tripping over your luggage. We spent our afternoons sitting at the terrace table, drinking cold Bintangs and snacking with the jungle valley right in front of us. Quick heads-up: because you're literally in the middle of nature, a few ants turned up when we left food out, but surprisingly, we didn’t see a single mosquito inside the villa.

connecting directly to both the bedroom and the private pool.

Another massive plus is the bathroom layout. The shower connects straight to the pool area, meaning you can jump out of the water and straight into the shower without dripping water all over the timber floors. Super clean and convenient.

The Reality of the Property: Jungle Views vs. The Stairs

Let’s talk about the main communal pool because it’s honestly unreal. It’s split into a deep section for adults and a shallower area for families.

The backdrop is a massive, dramatic ravine covered in tropical trees. Sitting on the edge of the infinity pool makes you feel like you’re floating in the middle of a rainforest. If you want that perfect Instagram shot, this is the place. Also, instead of the usual beachside sunloungers, relaxing on a daybed surrounded by misty jungle felt incredibly surreal.

plenty of stairs on the way down to the jungle view pool.

But here’s the honest catch you need to know: the stairs.

The resort is built into a steep cliffside to get those insane views, which means there are a lot of steps. When you check in, the walk to the room isn’t too bad, but dragging heavy suitcases would be a nightmare. Thankfully, the bellboys are absolute legends—they just hoist your bags onto their shoulders and carry them for you.

However, the main pool is right at the very bottom. The stairs leading down are quite steep and there are plenty of them. For a young couple like us, it was a non-issue (just a bit of daily cardio!), but if you have knee problems, are travelling with elderly parents, or have toddlers in prams, it’s going to be a struggle. That said, the staff are incredibly sweet and always happy to help if you need a hand, so don't let it completely turn you off.

The Food & Serene Mornings

Breakfast here isn’t a chaotic buffet; it’s a fully made-to-order, a la carte menu. You can choose an entree, a main, and a dessert from the menu, and the portions are massive. We tried a bit of everything during our stay, and the food quality was top-tier.

But honestly, the vibe is what makes it. Sitting in the open-air restaurant early in the morning, watching the morning mist rise off the trees with a hot coffee and fresh pastries... it was pure bliss. It’s the kind of quiet, peaceful atmosphere that makes you completely forget about city noise and life stresses.

The Spa: Don't Skip the In-House Massage

Normally, everyone tells you to get massages outside the hotel because local Balinese street spas are cheaper. But the traditional, peaceful atmosphere at Ulun Ubud’s spa looked so inviting that we decided to risk it.

Best decision ever.

Ulun Ubud Resort’s enchanting night view

Most 5-star resorts charge over $100 AUD for a treatment, but here, it’s only around $40 to $50 AUD. The spa rooms are completely private and beautiful, but the actual massage technique was next level. It wasn’t one of those superficial, lazy rubs—the therapists genuinely put their heart into it and worked out every single knot. My friend and I were both completely blown away and left a massive tip. Our only regret was doing it on our very last day; we were kicking ourselves that we hadn't booked one for every single afternoon.

Location & Getting Around

Location-wise, the resort is tucked away in a quiet area, which is great for peace and quiet but means it’s about a 20-minute walk into the main Ubud centre.

To fix this, the resort runs a free shuttle service. They have hourly scheduled runs, or you can just coordinate a specific pick-up and drop-off time with the front desk. It gives you the best of both worlds: easy access to the bustling town during the day, and complete silence when you want to sleep.

Quick Budget Breakdown (Approx. Rates)

Room Rate (Private Pool Villa): Around $150 – $250 AUD per night (includes the amazing full-course breakfast).

 In-House Massage: Around $40 – $50 AUD for a premium, private treatment.

Final Thoughts

Bali's lush mountains while enjoying a relaxing dip in the infinity pool.

To get a private pool villa, a gourmet breakfast, and a front-row seat to Ubud’s famous jungle at this price point feels like an absolute steal. If you’re looking for authentic Balinese charm, total privacy, and serious value for money, lock in Ulun Ubud Resort for your next trip. You won't regret it!
